British designer Karen Ryan first started her ‘Second Hand’ plate series in 2005. Looking beneath the veneer of everyday lies, Ryan systematically removes the decorative patterns of pre-owned porcelain plates to reveal enblematic words, unveiling hidden layers of domestic truths. this latest edition of plates evokes sentiments of disturbance but also love, creating an ambiguous portrait left open for interpretation.
